TRILMAX consortium at the CECAM conference in Toulouse, 2025 June

The TRILMAX consortium participated in the CECAM-supported workshop “Magnetic interactions and topological spin textures in 2D van der Waals magnets and heterostructures” held in Toulouse from June 24-28, 2025, with three representatives from two nodes.

László Oroszlány, Principal Investigator from the ELTE node, delivered a talk titled “Exchange interactions from a nonorthogonal basis set: From bulk ferromagnets to the magnetism in low-dimensional graphene systems.” He also engaged in discussions with prominent researchers including Thomas Olsen from DTU and Xu He from the University of Liège to establish closer collaborative relationships.

Dániel Pozsár, a junior scientist from the ELTE node, presented a poster titled “Numerical study of graphene triangulenes embedded in hexagonal boron nitride.” Additionally, he met with Xu He, the primary developer of the tb2j software, to discuss implementation differences and similarities. They agreed to develop joint testing protocols and maintain a shared platform for collaborative tests.

Rosa Eulalia González Ferreras, a PhD student from the Oviedo node, contributed with a poster presentation titled “Reavaluation of the spin-orbit effect in CrCl3.”

The conference participation successfully combined scientific presentations across different career stages with valuable networking and technical collaboration opportunities. The established connections with leading researchers and software developers position the consortium well for future collaborative efforts in the field of 2D magnetic materials and van der Waals heterostructures.
